LightningMaster Corp

Lightning Master Corporation (LMC) is a one-stop consulting, design & engineering, manufacturing and installation company specifically dedicated to lightning protection, surge suppression and grounding. LMC has been in the business of lightning and surge protection for over 30 years. Due to our success, commitment, growth and customer requests, we’ve decided to add another layer of expertise for our Clients to utilize.

In order to assure the utmost quality for our clients, Lightning Master Corporation (LMC) designs its structural lightning protection systems and components to meet the requirements of NFPA 780. As part of the standards, LMC rigorously employs a QA/QC program to ensure the integrity & effectiveness of their lightning protection systems. If a site has maintenance performed, structures added, or any theft of materials occurred at a facility, LMC highly encourages a follow-up QA/QC inspection. This is to insure the lightning & static protection systems have not been compromised in any way leaving the facility vulnerable to an incident. LMC’s Quality Control Maintenance Program revolves around the customer’s site specific needs. Dependent on the complexity and number of sites, LMC will work with clients to develop the most effective and efficient program possible.

Lightning Master is now offering 6 month, 12 month or 2 year maintenance QC programs, depending on the needs of the customer. Each program involves a detailed site review, including an inspection of structural protection (air terminals), a bonding/grounding survey, and a corrosion evaluation. The LMC Inspector will use the original installation photos and completion forms to note any changes, add-ons, or work that might have affected the integrity of the lightning protection system.

LMC’s trained inspectors will:

•Check termination points to ground looking for corrosion and a tight bond of the cable & components to ground.
•Check connections on isolated steel ensuring that the bond & cable still meet LMC standards.
•Inspect air terminals and hardware, noting corrosion, if any, quality of bond (connections), broken and missing parts, and electrode condition.
•Inspect In-Tank Static Drain (ITSD) & hardware in all tanks where they are installed, noting corrosion, if any, quality of bond (connections), and electrode condition.

The customer will receive a detailed report of the inspection of the equipment on the facility noting all findings and recommendations. The report will include a copy of the installation completion form and photography from the initial installation and the QC inspection. If there are any changes to the facility from the time of initial install to date of the QC report, the customer will be notified and the details documented in the report.

Lastly, LMC will include a written proposal for additional work recommended to bring the facility up to NFPA 780 standards and to maintain the operational integrity of the LMC system.

Lightning Master® systems are unique and site specific. Consequently, Lightning Master always recommend that the systems be installed by LMC crews or LMC supervised. LMC’s systems are designed to be low-maintenance, but not maintenance free. Therefore, LMC recommends periodic inspections.
