July 8, 2016: Clearwater, Florida – Lightning Master Corporation® (LMC), a global, innovative, full service, static and lightning protection company serving domestic and international industrial facilities since 1984, is pleased to announce that Underwriter Laboratories, Inc. (UL), has listed LMC’s Stainless Steel Lightning Protection Products.

UL is an American safety consulting and certification company with offices around the world. They are an independent company dedicated to safety solutions in working environments. Additionally, UL provides safety-related certifications, validation, testing, inspection, auditing, advising and training services to a wide range of customers. Lightning Master Products had to meet very specific, rigorous safety standards and requirements all of which are nationally & internationally recognized. Lightning Master’s Stainless Steel, UL listed products are to be installed in accordance with the Standard for Safety for Installation Requirements for Lightning Protection Systems, UL 96A for use with Class II, Modified Lightning Protection Systems. LMC’s UL listed products include: Streamer Retarding Air Terminals (SRAT’s), U-bolts, base plates, cable bonding lugs, saddle bases, swivel bases, bonding clamps and cable splices.

The National Severe Storms Laboratory (NSSL), a department of NOAA, suggests USA lightning costs and losses may exceed $8-10 billion per year. This number does not include the costs associated with loss of business, downtime, personnel safety, environmental damage, liability and re-building. Because of the global increase of sensitive electronic equipment and greater awareness of structural protection, the demand for lightning protection is increasing. Adding lightning and surge protection to a facility increases protection from fire, asset damage, downtime and injury.
“We are pleased that our stainless steel products have received the UL stamp of approval. Since the safety of our clients’ facilities, their personnel and the communities surrounding them is our absolute commitment, this approval is another example of that commitment”, announces Bruce Kaiser, Chairman & CEO of Lightning Master Corporation.

Bruce Kaiser is a principal member of the National Fire Protection Association NFPA 780, Committee on Lightning Protection (the committee that writes the U.S. Lightning Protection Standard); the American Petroleum Institute, API 545, the committee on Lightning Protection for Hydrocarbon Storage Tanks; The American Petroleum Institute API 2003, the committee on Protection Against Ignitions Arising Out of Static, Lightning, and Stray Currents; and Underwriters Laboratories UL 96 STP.
